Brandevoort is a curious Vinex district, which evokes associations with both a Dutch fortified city and the Brabant countryside. De Veste with its moat stands out strongly against its surroundings. When we talk about Brandevoort, the image of a medieval fortified town is etched into many minds. That image is correct in itself, but only shows part of the Vinex district. This walk starts in a piece of Brabant landscape that surrounds the district, after which we enter the residential areas that are called 'outdoors' here. We then walk along a canal, through an ecological zone and again through an outdoor area to the Veste. This is the center of Brandevoort that most evokes the medieval image. After the walk we can ask ourselves whether this neighborhood is alien or typically Brabant, and the answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. The walk is included in: The most beautiful Vinex walks by Paul Kurstjens and Kees Volkers. The walking guide is available for purchase at bookstores and on the publisher's website www.gegarandeerdonregulatief.nl
