The knowledge center also offers learning programs for school children with the objective of stimulating interest in technical skills. The students are informed about the old and modern production processes from the textile, energy, metal and printing industries through films, videos, demonstrations, databases, books, tours and self-motivation. That is how the knowledge center aims to create a link between the past and the present and at the same time, the students gain insight in the industrial processes and are better informed when making their career choices. And the school’s history lessons become a lot livelier when held in the knowledge center.
The Industrial Atrium organizes excursions where students stay in the Atrium during the morning and, after a short lunch break, visit an industrial company in the afternoon to experience the application of modern techniques. A perfect example of “Connecting Industrial History”.
The knowledge center is unique in The Netherlands and the visitors get to learn about and experience the industrial situations of the past and the present in different ways. Especially for children, the center is a great way to become interested in technique and industry, through tours, but also through self-motivation, databases, old films, DVDs, etc. Find out all about the prominent place the industry of Helmond has had in the economic life of South-east Brabant and even The Netherlands and still does, but also about old printing processes, how textile was made, metal was cast and energy was generated.

The Industrial Atrium can be visited individually on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and every last Sunday of the month, but also by appointment for groups or classes.
