Contrarian or not: Gemert embraces things that are different. Like this bicycle bridge, which rolled out of a printer. Well, of course it wasn't as easy as it sounds. Because the bridge is made up of eight hundred layers of concrete mortar. That weighs quite a bit. 3D printing of bridges and (parts of) buildings is a relatively new craft. This world first in Gemert – the bridge has been here since 2017 – is the result of a collaboration between Eindhoven University of Technology, Witteveen+Bos, BAM Infra and Weber Beamix. Feel free to cycle over it: the bridge meets all requirements and can last for at least thirty years.
