Once Sinterklaas is a bit settled in the castle, he opens the gates for visitors. From November 19 to December 4, you can take a behind-the-scenes look at Sint’s world. And let us tell you, it’s quite an event—both inside and outside the castle!
It all begins at the courtyard, where there’s plenty to do. From free activities, like a ride on the Sinterklaas Express, to activities that require a small fee, such as the Sinterklaas Theater or Sinterklaas Craft Club (for children ages 4 to 12). Even if you’re just taking a walk around, with Sinterklaas songs playing through the speakers and excited Piets hopping around, you’ll be totally immersed in the holiday spirit. Come see for yourself!
The Castle of Sinterklaas Inside the castle, you’ll be amazed by the many beautifully decorated rooms. The Piets proudly guide you around. It’s so fun to see where the gifts are wrapped, how the gingerbread cookies are baked, and where the Piets sleep. And finally, you’ll have a chance to visit the study where Sint himself is waiting for you.
Tickets A lot of children want to visit Sint, and understandably so—it's a unique experience! Unfortunately, that means there aren’t enough tickets for everyone. Tickets are therefore sold through two lottery rounds. Didn’t get a ticket? No worries! The castle grounds are an experience on their own, and they’re absolutely worth visiting.
How Does It Work? The first lottery round starts on Monday, November 4, and runs until Wednesday, November 6. The lucky winners will be notified on Thursday, November 9. Payment must be made by Saturday, November 9 at 4:00 p.m., or the tickets will go to the second lottery round, which runs from November 11 to 13. You can find out how to participate and see the rules on this page. Note: no tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are not required to access the castle grounds.
Admission Prices A ticket costs €4.00 (plus €0.32 service fee) for children up to 12 years old, and €7.50 (plus €0.60 service fee) for ages 13 and up. You can order a maximum of six tickets per order and must select three preferred days and times. The lottery will assign tickets based on these preferences.
The Arrival of Sinterklaas
On November 17, Sinterklaas and his Piets will arrive in Helmond by boat. Of course, we’ll give him a warm welcome! The new mayor will present him with the key to the castle (and the Wi-Fi code). Then, he’ll take a tour through the city center. Will you be there? He’d love it if you joined!
